When the headcoach Milija Bogicevic found out that his main center Seid Hajric is not able to play against Trefl due to the hand cut, he came up with an idea of starting the game with unexperienced Michal Sokolowski on the floor.
20-year-old swingman had played only 25 minutes this season but it wasn’t a problem for the headcoach and, as it turned out later, it wasn’t also a problem for him. Sokolowski opened the game for Anwil with a fast-break shot, next he made a lay-up in the post and finishing the quarter with a triple and two free throws, he got an ovation when Arvydas Eitutavicius appeared on the court substituting him.
Despite nine points from Sokolowski, Anwil couldn’t hammer the bigger margin than three-four points, but everything was changed with above-mentioned Eitutavicius being on the floor. Lithuanian guard started with a drive and a triple after a good pass of Krzysztof Szubarga. Then he cought fire for Anwil in the second quarter, being personally responsible for increasing the margin to twelve (46:34) just after he made his fifth triple in a row!
Eitutavicius made 17-for-28 Anwil points in that period of the game and the hosts were leading by ten by the break (48:38) so in the second half, they could only control the game calmly. However, the guests were doing their best to come back to the game and they almost did it, when Kurt Looby made a jumper at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Trefl cut the lead to only four then (63:59) but it was everything what they were able to reach that night.
The American trio rescued Anwil in the nervous moment as Tony Weeden scored seven, Marcus Ginyard six and Ruben Boykin four in the last quarter and finally the Rottweilers won their sixth battle in a row.
