Dusan Katnic played his personal best game of the current season as he finished with 22 points and seven assists, leading Anwil Wloclawek to win the battle against AZS Koszalin 75:70. The Rottweilers shone especially in the first quarter as they won that period 26:8.
It was definitely the best period of a game that Anwil have played during the season. The Rottwilers crashed their opponents from the very beginning on both ends of the court, as they made 10-for-14 field attempts and made the AZS players score only 3-for-11. The hosts also made the guests very unstable and they turned over the ball six times even in the first quarter of the battle.
Anwil controlled every single detail on the court, as Dusan Katnic controlled the pace of the game and conducted the orchestra as he was doing it before the season. At that time, Serbian playmaker was the best guy on the team without any doubts and against Koszalin, he proved his amazing skills. Katnic scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished the first half with 13. He missed his first shot in the second quarter in his sixth attempt. Moreover, Mateusz Kostrzewski added 10 points and Anwil were leading 38:23 before the break.
The third quarter didn't bring any changes as the hosts were easily controlling the situation not letting AZS cut their lead to more than 13 points with the end of the that period, 59:46.
Nevertheless, the team of Gasper Okorn didn't give up and thanks to its consistency and Sek Henry's shots, they even cut Anwil's lead to only seven just four minutes to go, 55:62. That moment turned to be crucial. AZS got the ball and they could approach to the hosts to only five or even four, when Henry attempted a triple. He missed but simultaneously ped on the floor, signalling the referees that he's been fouled. Suprisingly for him, as a response he got a technical foul for flopping. What it was worse for the guests, Dragan Labovic's protests were also punished the same way. That meant Anwil had four free throws and Danilo Mijatovic made three of them while Deividas Dulkys added a triple next action and Anwil explained what team was better tonight.
It was the first win for the Rottweilers in the 2014 year. The team broke the series of the previous three loses.
