After terminating the deal with Canadian center Ryan Wright, it was obvious that Anwil is expected to hire a player who won’t have any problems with adjusting to the new environment. Finally the headcoach Milija Bogicevic has chosen a well-known Polish center, ex-Stelmet Zielona Gora player, Adam Lapeta.
– Adam is an experienced basketballer who had already played many games in Europe and competed against the best centers in the Euroleague. I hope he will be the person who will make difference – says the president of Anwil Wloclawek, Arkadiusz Lewandowski.
25-year-old big guy is the tallest player in the league. He started his journey with basketball in 2005 as a member of Asseco Prokom Gdynia and played 10 games in his first season in the A1 division. Ever since his role on the team has been changing and in the last season he was averaging 3,5 ppg. and 2,7 rpg. in 15 minutes spent on the floor. Thanks to those performances, he signed a deal with Stelmet Zielona Gora last summer.
Playing under Mihailo Uvalin wings, he contributed to the team’s wins at the beginning of the competition but from some moment on, his impact on the play started to decrease until the situation he didn’t come on the floor against Jezioro Tarnobrzeg in the last game. Averagely he is noting 3,8 ppg., 2,6 rpg. and 1,3 bpg. this season.
– We have been looking for a player whose dimensions would be different from Seid Hajric’s and Adam is the person that we exactly expected. We are happy that he has signed a deal with Anwil and I am sure he will be suitable for our strategy thanks to his abilities and potential. As Polish center he will make our rotation system easier – adds the headcoach, Arkadiusz Lewandowski.
