Anwil Wloclawek and the current champion of Tauron Basket Liga, PGE Turow Zgorzelec were fighting for the win almost till the last action. The hosts showed good efficiency in the crunch-time and they won the battle 97:89.
When Damian Kulig made a three-pointer, PGE Turow Zgorzelec was leading 31:13 at the beginning of the second quarter and it seemed that the game is ended. The lead of 18 points in the 11th minute of the battle is never a good prognosis, however Anwil Wloclawek showed character and will to fight and even in the second quarter decreased the hosts' lead to almost tie the game.
The Rottweilers were struggling a weekend before against Trefl Sopot and that game ended with a catastrophe as the hosts lost by 31 points at home. That one of the biggest league losses in history caused the nobody expected an equal fight against PGE Turow, the current Polish champion. Nevertheless, the team of Predrag Krunic presented well for most of the game in Zgorzelec.
Anwil was 11 points behind the Euroleague team after a half but the players came out of the locker room very focused. Andrea Crosariol opened the counter with two free throws, Chase Simon added a jumper while Deonta Vaughn made five points in a row and PGE Turow was leading only 48:44. The hosts weren't able to score for about three minutes as Filip Dylewicz broke such indolence by answering with and-one (53:46). After that, Anwil didn't give up and what's more - started its best part of the game.
Konrad Wysocki began the series with a lay-up, Crosariol added another shot, above-mentioned Vaugn made his second triple while Piotr Pamula added a jumper giving Anwil a lead of three (56:53) just four minutes to the end of the third quarter. Pamula kept the team's margin also a couple of minutes later, when he got fouled shooting from behind the arc and precisely made 3-of-3 free throws (63:60). Unfortunately, that moment turned out to be the last advantage of the guests that night. Tony Taylor sped up the pace of the PGE Turow offense and after three quarter the team of Zgorzelec had six points more than the opponents (69:63).
The Rottweilers were trying to steal the victory in the fourth quarter, Vaughn and Mikolaj Witlinski made some three-pointers but PGE Turow plays too calm and experienced basketball to let the chance break free. They controlled the situation on the floor and won the battle 97:89. That results means Anwil is six games behind the best teams in Poland but the style of playing made everyone think that the future isn't lost.
