Stelmet Zielona Gora beat Anwil Wloclawek for the fourth time in this season. The Polish champion won over the Rottweilers 83:66 in a home game on Wednesday in spite of the fact it was Anwil that was leading in the first quarter.
Surprisingly Anwil Wloclawek started the game better and with more power than its opponents. The guests were boldily pushing the ball forward and were using as many fast breaks as it was possible. Jordan Callahen sped up the pace of the game, Piotr Pamula woke up in offense after the previous worse game and Seid Hajric and Danilo Mijatovic dominated Vlado Dragicevic in low-post.
Thanks to that team effort, Anwil took a 12-4 lead at the beginning of the first quarter but unfortunately, wasn't able to keep it for a longer period. The guests were playing actively in offense and solidly in a zone defense, but the hosts cut the whole lead even in the first quarter.
It was Lukasz Koszarek who smoothly crashed the zone defense and when he made a first quarter buzzer, Stelmet took a lead of 21:20. Przemyslaw Zamojski made three triples in the first half and the second quarter turned out to be a moment when the hosts were gradually building up their own advantage. The break brought a significant margin for Stelmet, as they were leading 49:32 after 20 minutes. The Wloclawek still believed in a positive ending, but honestly, the game was over.
There was a big disproportion that caused the win for the the Polish champion which eventually won over Anwil 83:66 - the depth of the roster. When the headcoach of Stelmet, Mihailo Uvalin, has got twelve experienced players on the team, Milija Bogicevic may rotate with only seven practiced players and some juniors who are making their first steps in serious basketball.
It was the Stelmet's fourth victory over Anwil this season. Next games between these two teams may happen only in semifinals, but nothing is certain currently.
Piotr Pamula was the best shooter for Anwil as he scored 18 points. Jordan Callahan finished the game with 16 points.
