Emir Mutapcic chose the next Polish player who is going to play for Anwil Wloclawek in the following competition – 22-year-old point guard Marcin Nowakowski signed a one year deal with an option of extension for another. – In my opinion is very good choice for the club as well as for the player – Bosnian coach says.
Despite his age, Marcin Nowakowski is the player with some experience. He debuted in Polish A1 league in 2008 in the team Polonia Warsaw. He was only 19-year-old point guard but the coach Wojciech Kaminski gave him trust and let him play even 12 minutes in each game. Hardworking and willing to learn, Nowakowski became an integral part of the team very quickly – in the 2009/2010 season he was able to average 5,4 ppg. and 2,2 apg.
Nowakowski made a really big progress during that two seasons so last summer coach Kaminski announced that he will be the guy who will be responsible for creating the offense of Polonia. Having been promoted to the starting five, 21-year-old point guard even boosted his play and averages which reached the level of 7,6 ppg., 2,8 apg. and 1,3 spg.
– I am extremely happy that we could accept all terms of contract with the player who is still in progress. In Polonia Nowakowski showed that he is able to lead the team on the floor. Next season he will get the chance to prove his skills in a better club. In my opinion is very good choice for the club as well as for the player – says Emir Mutapcic, the headcoach of Anwil.
22-yeard-old playmaker also expresses his enjoyment. – For me, playing in Anwil is like the door wide open. I was so proud when the coach Mutapcic called and told me that he wants me in his team next year. I am going to do all my best all the season long.
The contract between the club and the player is valid until June, 2012. Nevertheless, Anwil has precedence over any other club after it expires.
Lukasz Majewski, Dardan Berisha, Seid Hajric had signed their deals with Anwil before.
