Nervously, but happily

The spirit of a past champion was hovering somewhere under the roof of the Champions' Court for almost a whole game, but disappeared in the crunch-time. Anwil Wloclawek was struggling to run away for four quarters but finally made it and beat Asseco Gdynia 64:59. A captain of Anwil Seid Hajric scored 16 points, making two important shots in the last minute.

When Seid Hajric scored four points, Keith Clanton added the same charge and Michal Sokolowski made a triple, Anwil Wloclawek increased its tiny lead to 14 points, 60:46, just four minutes before the end. Nevertheless, the hosts' margin quickly turned out to be only a seeming safety, as the players of Asseco Prokomem needed only three minutes to make a nervous atmosphere at the Champions' Court, cutting Anwil's lead to three, 60:57.

Fortunately, a newly-chosen team's captain,
Seid Hajric shouldered the burden in offense and making two important shots in the last 60 seconds, he became a game hero. 30-year-old big guy scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Rottweilers finished the game exactly in the same way how they started it - efficiently. The hosts opened the battle with a 9-0 advantage but they definitely believed too early that a lead role of the spectacle was confered. Lukasz Seweryn and Piotr Szczotka quickly proved that they do not deserve to be struck off and Asseco Gdynia stole the lead in the middle of the second quarter - 25:22. Had it not been for Danilo Mijatovic's three triples in the first half, Anwil wouldn't have had a margin of four (31:27) with the break.

A.J. Walton activated himself in the second half for the guests but Anwil defended well and let their opponents cross the barrier of 50 points scored in the 37th minute of the game. A solid defense helped also the hosts in the crunch-time and finally Anwil grabbed a second league win, beating Asseco 64:59.

25-year-old Deividas Dulkys debuted for Anwil but he made only one shot. It is necessary adding that a Lithuanian guard has been practising with the team just since last Monday and there are no doubts he is going to be a big strengthening soon.
