Due to the unsatisfactory and disappointing results which are defining Anwil Wloclawek in the current season, the board of the club has decided to release Emir Mutapcic. The deal with Bosnian coach has been terminated by a mutual agreement so the previous assistant Krzysztof Szablowski has taken a helm as a new headcoach.
The headcoach Emir Mutapcic started working with Anwil Wloclawek in the last season and he couldn’t lead the team even into the semifinals losing to Trefl Sopot in the quarterfinal 1-3. Nevertheless, before the current competition the board of the club decided to let him work with team simultaneously giving him a chance to build a roster on his own.
Bosnian coach firstly introduced some kind of a remedial program and secondly - created his team. Unfortunately, the requirements definitely outgrew him and the players he had chosen. Anwil finished the regular position on the fourth position with a 17-7 record including some unexpected loses such as against Siarka Jezioro or PGE Turow. Moreover, he didn’t get a promotion to the semifinal of the Polish Cup after the team lost to Slask Wroclaw in a home game. After such a bad performance the board’s patience has run out and the coach’s contract has been terminated. Mutapcic has agreed to solve it by a mutual agreement.
At the same time, the president of the club Zbigniew Polatowski has decided to transfer power to the previous coach Krzysztof Szablowski. Born in Wloclawek, 36-year-old coach is a graduate from the University of Physical Education in Poznan. Since 2005 he had been working in Anwil being an assistant till now. He had cooperated with Andrej Urlep, Ales Pipan, Zmago Sagadin, Igor Griszczuk and above-mentioned Mutapcic.
- I am a different person from Emir and my basketball philosophy is also a bit diverse. I’ve got my own vision and I will try to introduce it in my working with the team but I don’t want to do any kind of revolution because it’s unnecessary. Honestly, I’ll be focusing more on details because they’re a key. Simultaneously – I won’t say that a lovely future is going to happen but I promise I will do everything to make the success happen - said the new coach.
Marcin Wozniak and Dominik Narojczyk will keep their posts as the assistant coaches.
