The point guard Louis Hinnant, who was on the Emir Mutapcic’s shortlist even some months ago, signed a one year contract with Anwil Wloclawek. At the first time 27-year-old Louis Hinnant arrived to Wloclawek at the end of January when the club was trying to find a combo guard who could help the team. Unfortunately, the contract which had been signed some days earlier, could not be accomplished due to some player’s health reasons.
- Being tested here in Wloclawek, not only did Louis show his tremendous basketball skills but a great personality that I sometimes value much more than abilities. He is the guy who holds the team together and he plays for a team. Louis was in our plans some months ago, but at that time it was impossible to hire him. Fortunately, the situation changed and we decided to choose him once again – coach Emir Mutapcic expressed his opinion about the newest transfer.
A basketball career Louis Hinnant started at Boston College in the NCAA, but his first professional steps he made in Sweden, playing for Sundsvall Dragons. Then he moved to Finland to Joensuun Kataja where he was a key player averaging 18 ppg., 5 rpg. and 4 apg. In 2008 he made a decision of moving out and he anchored in Hungarian Zalakeramia-ZTE KK for two years. In that A1 league he fulfilled the expectations as a shooting guard (13 ppg.) as well as a point guard (6 apg.). What’s more – he led his team to the double crown winning Hungarian Championship and Hungarian Cup.
After winning everything what he could, Hinnant signed a deal with Ukrainian Kryvbasbasket-Lux Kryvyi Rih last summer. Regretfully, the club went bankrupt so the player (10 ppg., 4 apg.) needed to look for another employer in the middle of the season.
Hinnant is supposed to be a starting five player. Young Marcin Nowakowski will be his substitute.
