After a shaming loss in Torun, Anwil Wloclawek made a false start in front of its own fans at the Champions' Court. The Rottweilers let their opponent Asseco Gdynia steal the game in the third quarter and win the game 67:58.
The expectations were totally different. No one in Wloclawek was able to suppose the team is going to lose two first battles and the game style would leave much to be desired. After an incident in Torun, the Rottweilers were thought to wash the blot away against Asseco Gdynia but this competition has turned out to be even worse than previous one.
Anwil started the game easily and after two great triples from Chase Simon and Greg Surmacz, the team was winning 8:0. Unfortunately, the guests took control of their game quickly and needed only a couple of minutes to make the game even.
The guests had a concept how to beat Anwil and moreover they were able to put the theoretical aspects on the floor. The hosts were encouraged to attempt as many triples as possible and they fell into a trap. They made only three of six shots in the first quarter but the next three periods turned out to be completely unproductive when it comes to behind the arc shooting and Anwil finished with the efficiency of 11 percent (3/26).
Furthermore, the hosts, who had made 18 turnovers in the first game against Polski Cukier, noted 19 mistakes on Sunday.
Turnovers and bad shooting were the key elements which let the guests run away in the hird quarter. Sebastian Kowalczyk and Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz were effective at that moment and made Asseco win the battle 58:45 after 30 minutes of the game.
Anwil was trying to come back but the hosts' efforts slammed into a great wall of defense made by the team of David Dedek. Anwil was allowed to score only 58 points at its own gym and eventually made as many points as the guests had after three quarters.
