Krzysztof Szubarga turned out to be a clutch player in the battle against the Polish champion. Polish playmaker got engaged in the tough defense at the very beginning and made Jerel Blassingame frustrated. American Asseco Prokom point guard was not able to drive to the basket and make easy shots, while Szubarga unwinded with each minute.
Anwil was leading 16:15 after the first quarter but the second quarter was not as good. Asseco Prokom played better in the defense and made four triples - two of Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz and two of Lukasz Seweryn. The guests had 6-for-11 from behind the arc in the first half as Przemyslaw Zamojski added another two tree-point shots at the beginning. Asseco Prokom was leading 35:32 before the break.
Nevertheless, everything what was good in the guests' play, ended just after the change of the sides. Anwil tightened their grip on the defense and letting the opponent score only 20 points in the third and fourth quarter, finished the battle with an extreme 66:55 result.
Szubarga scored five points in the third, and nine in the last period of the game. Asseco Prokom was leading 47:46 in the 31st minute, but firstly Lawrence Kinnard broke the guests and secondly Szubarga made five easy points and Anwil took a margin of six, 53:47. A moment later, Dardan Berisha scored from behind the arc (despite he missed last four shots) and the hosts' advantage increased to 58:49.
