After signing European guys only, Anwil Wloclawek has found his first American player. The team has brought well-known Deonta Vaughn who will be playing as a playmaker and a shooter. 28-year-old player, who has signed a one-year deal, was a member of Polpharma Starogard Gdanski in the 2010/2011 season.
Deonta Vaughn, 28-year-old guard is a player seems to be very well-known here in the Polish League, because he started his professional career in 2010 in Polpharma Starogard Gdanski. His beginnings and adaptation process in serious basketball wasn’t troublefree as his team entered the season with four losses in a row. Fortunately, it was just a beginning and later Polpharma, and Vaughn as well, played successfully, grabbing the Polish Cup trophy after beating… Anwil Wloclawek in the crucial game.
Vaughn was one of the most important players that night, scoring 15 points and 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
After a good season in Poland, American guard moved to Ukraine, to MBC Nikolaiv, and after another campaign, to the Georgian MIA Academy Tbilisi. He was playing there with other well-known player, Kirk Archibeque and the great play of those two Americans influenced on the team’s success – the championship.
Last summer Vaughn came back to Polpharma but his contract included the option of release in case of the interests from a stronger team. And the stronger team appeared – the Hungarian Atomeromu Paks, that offered the player the possibility to play also in the EuroChallenge Cup.
Vaughn made a decision and left Poland what turned out to be positive for him. In Hungary, he grabbed his second medal in a row – a silver one that time. He was averaging 11,5 ppg., 5,2 apg. and 3,3 rpg. in the 2013/2014 season.
For the 2014/2015 competition, Vaughn has put his signature on the deal with Anwil Wloclawek. He is supposed to play as a playmaker here.
