The players of Anwil Wloclawek made a great Christmas gift for themselves as well as for their fans, beating Rosa Radom 87:76. The hosts were leading for almost the whole game and evantually won it thanks to very solid offense - six guys finished the battle with double-digits.
Anwil Wloclawek never won six league games in a row since Milija Bogicevic has taken the helm of the team. Never till the Saturday, December 21st. The Rottweilers beat Rosa Radom 87:76 and it was the sixth Anwil's victory in the league. Thanks to that series, Anwil confirmed their position in the ranking.
However, the game wasn't easy as the guests didn't let the hosts build up any significant margin. Korie Lucious was trying to speed up the pace of the game and that a little bit crazy style worked. Anwil was leading 22:17 and 29:24 but Rosa were able to come back to the game (29:29) and finally had only three points less than the hosts (39:42) after two quarters.
Anwil players weren't so focused as they should be, but when they sorted out their problems after the break, Rosa had no say in the game. Michal Sokolowski opened the second half with two triples in a row (50:41) while Keith Clanton shone in low-post. Both guys scored 19-for-23 team's points in the third quarter and the Rottweilers were leading 65:54 before the final period of the game.
Rosa had the most problems with Anwil's fast break. The hosts used that weapon as often as it was possible, eventually scoring 26 points thanks to that game element. Moreover, the hosts' defense shamed Rosa into making 21 turnovers and these two details - Anwil's fast break and Rosa's mistakes - made Anwil win the game 87:76.
Besides, the Rottweilers played the most team-oriented game this season. They assisted 24 times which turned out to be the team's record since March, 2013, when they had 25 key passes against Stelmet at Zielona Gora. Deividas Dulkys finished the game with eight assists and eight points. Mikolaj Witlinski and Lithuanin guard were only two guys who didn't cross the barrier of 10 points. The rest of the other six players made it, while Keith Clanton and Danilo Mijatovic (both 16) turned out to be the game best scorers.
Thanks to that win, Anwil finished the first part of the regular season at the second place in the league with a 8-3 record.
