Anwil Wloclawek left no doubts in a battle against Zastal Zielona Gora and easily won the game 85:63. It is so important victory for Emir Mutapcic’s team because the hosts overcame a ten-point deficit from the first game of these two clubs.

Two actions made by Paul Miller opened the points bag and Anwil took its first advantage, however Chris Burgess was very active for Zastal and the hosts were leading by only one, 13-12, in the middle of the first quarter. Optically, Wloclawek team seemed to look better as they played very fast basketball trying to keep big intensity in defense. Thanks to this, Anwil had a margin of six (24-18) at the end of the first period of the game.

Walter Hodge, one of the fastest guys in the league, had a lot of problems with creating actions for his colleagues because of the constant pressure of D.J. Thompson. American point guard was trying to tire Puerto Rican player, the same like Chris Thomas who appeared on the floor later. The hosts were winning even 35-21 in the middle of the second quarter, however Chris Burgess and Hodge decreased this lead to only nine (39-30) before the break.

Paul Miller scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half but Anwil still presented extremely efficiently in the third quarter even without his first center’s leading role. Nikola Jovanovic made some difficult shots behind the line while Thomas added some important points and assists. In the meantime, Zastal players forgot about his leader, Chris Burgess who made only two attempts in the second half so this is why Anwil increased its lead to a 59:46 result.

Even though James Maye and Hodge were able to cut the distance to only seven points (61:54) at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Anwil kept its calm and thanks to Jovanovic, Thomas and Dardan Berisha built up another big margin, finally winning the game 85:63.
