VEF Riga dominated in the post playing against Anwil Wloclawek on Friday. On Saturday the headcoach Dainius Adomaitis made some improvements, the frontcourt players worked better and Anwil started the game easily 11:3. Nevertheless, a moment of worse concentration was used by the opponents who were able to cut the whole lead (11:12) and stabilize their shape (22:25) after ten minutes.
From the second quarter on, Anwil started to play definitely better. Adomaitis rotated the players and almost each of them wrote down his names in the game protocol. Ryan Wright especially shone in that period thanks to the low post moves and good passes from his teammates. Canadian center had 14 points and six rebounds before the break, Ruben Boykin added nine and Anwil was leading 50:39.
Estonian team put some effort to return to the game as Egidijus Dimsa used his mobility in the post but the guests could only cut the Anwil’s lead to eight only. When Seid Hajric made some perimeter shots and Mateusz Bartosz gave a triple, Anwil took the margin on sixteen (69:53) in the middle of the last quarter.
Ryan Wright finished the battle with a great double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Krzysztof Szubarga scored 13 points and added five assists and five rebounds. Except for that duo, Ruben Boykin, Marcus Ginyard and Seid Hajric also crossed the barrier of 10 points made.
Edigijus Dimsa, Lithuanian forward, was the most efficient player for the guests - he scored 20 points and five rebounds.

The Gert Kullamae’s team consummately used that Asseco Prokom Gdynia played without their two frontcourt players and easily hammered thier first serious margin of eight points just before the second quarter. Lithuanian duo Antanas Kavaliauskas – Donatas Zavackas had 14 points and 10 rebounds with the break while Tartu Rock was leading 46:33.
Lukasz Koszarek and Drew Viney were the guys who tried to carry the burden of the team’s offense but they efforts were fruitless in the first half. Nevertheless, when they got a support from Mateusz Ponitka and Jerel Blassingame (both scored 16 for 28 team’s points after the break) the Tartu’s advantage got decreased.
When Ponitka made a triple at the beginning of the last quarter, it seemed that a thrilling ending is going to happen. However, Earl Rowland, Dairis Bertans and Kaspars Berzins had other plans and they eventually won clearly by more than ten points.
