10 years ago Anwil Wloclawek stopped the hegemony of Idea Slask Wroclaw, a 17-fold Polich champion that was inviting its fans for the 18th championship in the 2002/2003 season. Nevertheless, Anwil baffled such a celebrating and later achieved the championship itself. Today, the team of Wloclawek has stopped the era of another tycoon - Asseco Prokom's, the team that had never lost a play-off series since 2003.
The hosts didn't strat the game as they had done on Thursday (20:1 with the beginning) and the guests from Gdynia took a slight lead of 15:14 after the first quarter. Nevertheless, Anwil has started to take control of the game since the middle of the second quarter. When Ruben Boykin made a triple, the hosts were winning 32:19, while when Marcus Ginyard followed in his footsteps, it was 38:27.
The guests tried to get back to the game many times but they were too exhausted to do it. Thanks to some individual plays of Przemyslaw Zamosjki (16 points) and Rasid Mahalbasic (14, but also 6-of-15 FG) they were able to cut the Anwil's lead to eight or nine, but nothing else.
Milija Bogicevic's team continued to play together after the break and when Tony Weeden made his second three-pointer and Anwil took an advantage of 18 (62:44) just five minutes to go, everything was clear. Anwil got promoted to the semifinal while Asseco Prokom's season was ended!
Ruben Boykin, Seid Hajric and Nikola Jovanovic scored 29 points and had 16 rebounds as their play in low post against taller (2.13) Mahalbasic was a crucial detail of Anwil's win.
