Anwil finishes a step earlier

Środa, 12 Lutego 2014, 2:22, Michał Fałkowski

After a thrilling quarterfinal game, Anwil didn't present the same quality in the semifinal of the Intermarche Basket Cup Polish Cup and lost to a long-time rival Slask Wroclaw 69:82. The Rottweilers played their seasonal worst first half, losing by 22 after it.

It was the worst first half of Anwil Wloclawek this season. The Milija Bogicevic's team played without any idea in offense and without any consistency in defense. Admittedly, Deividas Dulkys opened the game with a steal and a fast break finished with a huge dunk but next 13 points were made by the opponents. Michal Gabinski was the guy who found his place on the court and a good rhythm and scored 10 of team's first 15 points. All in all, Slask was winning 26:11 after the first 10 minutes nad 50:28 after the second part of the game.

The Jerzy Chudeusz's team made 7-for-11 three pointers and that was the gulf between two teams as Anwil answered with only two distance shots. The guests made also 11 turovers that let Slask use fast breaks alsmost whenever they wanted. Thanks to such a segment, they scored 16 points before the break. Anwil only two, those above-mentione by Dulkys...

Despite such a bad quality that Anwil presented in the first half, the Rottweilers were still able to get back to the game as they didn't let Slask score any single point for 6 minutes 30 seconds of the third quarter. The first field attempt was made by the hosts even later - just two minutes before the third quarter's end.

Such a solid defense made Anwil crash Slask at the beginning of the second quarter and decreased the opponents' lead to only 11, 42:53. Unfortunately, when there was a chance to approach even stronger, Danilo Mijatovic missed his four shots in a row within 90 seconds and Slask settled down their game.

Finally, Anwil lost to its long-time rival, being beaten 69:82. Deividas Dulkys scored 19 points for the Rottweilers, proving once again that he is the strongest link of the team. Danny Gibson finished with 21 points for the guests.
