Anwil Wloclawek were not the favourite of an away game against Energa Czarni Slupsk but they did not leave any shadow of doubt and defeated the hosts 81:72. Corsley Edwards shined tonight as he scored 19 points and had 8 rebounds.

When Corsley Edwards, a starting five center, got called the second foul in the second minute of the game, the Anwil fans thought to themselves that they had a problem. However, the head coach of the team Emir Mutapcic weren’t running scared and keeping calm, he ordered his team to change an offensive system.

In that case, the playmaker Krzysztof Szubarga put a lot of emphasis on the midrange and the perimeter. As a result, Szubarga, Nick Lewis, John Allen and Dardan Berisha made the triples and Anwil were leading 25:12.

Such a high leading sent the guests to sleep and Energa Czarni, especially thanks to Stanley Burrell and Darnell Hinson, were step by step cutting the lead. Szubarga was the guy who kept the result for Anwil as he made two another three-pointers and the guests had a margin of four, 42:38, before the break.

In the 24th minute of the game Edwards got the ball in low-post to play one-on-one against his opponent. He passed him and jumped to make a dunk. Suddenly Burrell appeared in the air as he wanted to block Edwards, despite he’s only 1,90 m and the center is 2,06 tall, but his action was treated as a flagrant foul by the referees. That was the second identical Burrell’s case so American had to leave the floor.

Even tough, Czarni still played well without him and not only did they decrease the lead than they even had a point more (60:59) after three quarters. Against all odds, Anwil were able to back to the game. John Allen, Seid Hajric and Lukasz Majewski did a great job in the defense and they let Slupsk team score only 12 points in the crucial quarter. Meanwhile Corsley Edwards shined in the offense, Szubarga made his fourth triple while Allen and Hajric polished the opponent off thanks to the free throws.
