19 seasons of professional career, years of collecting experience – that cannot be wasted so Andrzej Pluta, one of the biggest icons of the modern history of basketball in Wloclawek, comes back to Anwil. He will be Dainius Adomaitis’ assistant and the team attaché.
It was only a year ago when Andrzej Pluta decided to split up with the senior basketball. A couple of days after he announced his retirement, when Anwil lost to Trefl Sopot in the quarterfinals, he moved to his native region Silesia in order to launch his own basketball campaign.
– I needed such a break because now I am able to see everything differently. Moreover, I got wise to the fact that my 19 years in professional basketball must not be wasted. This is why I started working with the National Team and now I am back here in Wloclawek too – said the ex-captain of the team.
Pluta will be the headcoach Dainius Adomaitis’ second assistant. He will be responsible for making statistics during the games and carrying out trainings. Besides, he will perform as a team attaché. – I want everyone to know that I am here for people and they always may turn to me for anything or seek my advice – added Pluta.
– Ten years ago, when the another legend of the team finished his career and joined the coaching staff, Anwil Wloclawek reached the first and only one championship. I mean Igor Griszczuk of course. Now we hope that we are heading for exactly the same scheme. Our team has got big aspiration but they need knowledge how to make it into success. Andrzej Pluta knows it and we want our players to follow in his footsteps – said the president of the club, Arkadiusz Lewandowski.
The headcoach Dainius Adomaitis also took the floor speaking about Pluta. – Everyone who is interested in basketball knows who is Andrzej and he has achieved in his career. His presence in our team is a great honour.
