Anwil Wloclawek presented extremely good defense against one of the best scoring teams in Poland, Energa Czarni Slupsk, and finally won 72:64.

Lukasz Majewski opened the game very easily and got involved with both defense and offense. Polish forward was set by the coach Emir Mutapcic as a marker of Energa’s point guard, Jerel Blassingame so the guests had some problems with finding their way to the basket. Moreover Majewski scored seven points in the first quarter so Anwil was leading 13:8 and 19:15 after ten minutes.

However, Blassingame got back his efficiency and passing skills and the Slupsk team took a 27:25 lead in the middle of the quarter. At that moment Majewski and D.J. Thompson answered with two triples and the hosts were winning 31:28 before the break.

It seemed that Anwil spread its sails when the team scored some easy baskets at the very beginning of the third quarter and increased its lead into a 38:30 result but Czarni didn’t doubt and didn’t abandon its hope. Ermin Jazvin was the guy who was dominating in low post while Blassingame made two three-point shots and Czarni got the lead after three quarters – 50:45.

Unexpectedly, the hosts regained the lead as soon as they lost it previously. Chris Thomas came on the floor and he made two plus one action shortly after, while Dardan Berisha added a triple and Anwil stole the control of the game once again (53:52). It turned out to be the crucial moment of the game as from that minute on the team of the coach Mutapcic kept playing on a high level. Thomas added another twelve points while Majewski was fighting for two in defense, grabbing rebounds and stealing balls and Anwil finally won 72:64.

It is worth adding that Energa Czarni lost Cameron Bennerman in that game. American guard got injured while driving to the basket and he probably sprained his knee seriously because he wasn’t able to get up without any help.
