A positive accent at the end of the year

Just days before the game, it turned out that Lorinza Harrington is out of rotation due to a leg injury while Seid Hajric has got some fitness problems as he is practicing too short time after some health problems. That situation cut the Anwil’s bench to only eight players, moreover because Wojciech Glabas had been loaned even earlier.

All things concerned meant that Krzysztof Szubarga was playmaking for almost the whole game, while Corsley Edwards changed the place on the floor with Nick Lewis only. However, it wasn’t any obstacle at all as "The Big Dog" shined at very beginning while his countryman gave a great back-up in the third quarter. Edwards started the battle with 10 points in a row and Lewis scored eight between 28^th and 30^th minute of the game to keep the result more or less tied.

Anwil was leading 20:18 after ten minutes and 31:24 in the middle of the second quarter when Bartlomiej Woloszyn did a great job scoring six points in a row. However, that moment was the last one when Anwil took control of the game in the first half. Marcin Nowakowski and Jeremy Simmons turned the tables on and tied the game to a 41:41 result.

Above-mentioned duo faded in the second half but Michael Hicks and Tony Weeden appeared to replace them in the offense as the hosts firstly took a 60:53 lead and secondly 65:61 after thirty minutes. Moreover Polpharma was even leading 75:71 just four minutes to go and everything foreshadowed a hosts’ victory.

However, nothing further from the truth because it was Anwil which dealt cards at the end. Corsley Edwards made a two plus one action, Lawrence Kinnard added four points from the fastbreaks, Dardan Berisha made a clutch triple (85:82 sixty seconds to go) while everything was controlled by versatile John Allen. Finally Anwil won that difficult game and finished the 2011 year positively.
