The draw for Basketball Champions League was held today at the FIBA headquarters. In the first round of Qualifications Anwil Włocławek will face Belfius Mons-Hainaut.
Sixteen (16) teams will participate in the Qualifications for Basketball Champions League 2020/2021 season. Anwil Wloclawek found its place in POT #1, which meant that both in the round 1 and round 2 of the Qualifications will be seeded.
In the first step the Rottweilers will face Belfius Mons-Hainaut (Belgium). Players of the coach Dejan Mihevc are scheduled to play games against the Belgian team on 15 and 18 of September. In case of qualifying to the next stage, they will face the winner of Hapoel Tel Aviv – Bakken Bears in the second round of the Qualifications. In that case the games will be held on 22 and 25 of September.
- We have very interesting games ahead of us. Fate was not kind, but in fact, as long as we don’t know the rosters of particular teams, we don’t know how strong our opponents are. Anyway, we didn't expect an easy road in any scenario, we want to focus on ourselves and our game from the beginning. We will definitely come out to win every game, and before that we will do everything we can to build the best roster. I hope we will announce next contracts this week – says the chairman of the Board of Wloclawek Basketball Club, Arkadiusz Lewandowski.
If the team from Włocławek proves to be better than the previously mentioned ones, it will be promoted to the Group A of Basketball Champions League, where already are: Iberostar Tenerife (Spain), SIG Strasbourg (France), Dinamo Banco de Sardegna Sassari (Italy), Peristeri Athens (Greece), VEF Riga (Latvia), Galatasaray Istanbul (Turkey) and Rytas Vilnius (Lithuania).
